Stadium in Birmal tehsil demanded

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Lower South Waziristan youth have demanded establishment of a sports stadium in Azam Warsak area of Birmal tehsil to help promote healthy activities in the rgion.

They also demanded initiatives to promote tourism and generate employment opportunities.

They made the demands during a meeting with Commandant South Waziristan Scouts Mohammad Tahir here on Tuesday.

Youth leaders Ziaullah, Amanullah, Abdullah, Jalal Wazir, Yasin, Rahimullah and others, representing various areas of the district, attended the meeting.

Mr Tahir appreciated the youth’s services and positive activities, particularly in sports.

He emphasised the crucial role of youth in the country’s development and prosperity.

He acknowledged the Waziristan’s potential in agriculture, forestry and minerals.

He noted the urgent need for generating employment opportunities for the youth.

The commandant South Waziristan Scouts assured the youth that their issues would be conveyed to the higher authorities.

ROAD CLOSURE: The Wana-Gomal Zam Road remained closed for the third consecutive day on Tuesday due to landslides in Shesnkai area, causing hardships to commuters.

Landslides were triggered by heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Officials said the district administration and Wana transport union’s office-bearers had initiated the road clearance operation.
