RAWALPINDI: The deputy inspector general (DIG) of prisons Rawalpindi region has transferred 10 warders, seven of them from Central Jail Adiala.
According to a notification issued by DIG Abdul Rauf Rana, the 10 warders were transferred to other prisons in the Rawalpindi region.
The transfers were made on the administrative grounds against existing vacancies.
It said warders Ibrar Qaiser, Mohammad Shahid and Yasir Riaz were transferred from Adiala jail to the district jail Mandi Bahauddin; Mohammad Jameel to sub-jail Chakwal and Sajjad Saddique to the district jail Attock.
Moreover, Mohammad Shakeel was transferred from the Adiala jail to the district jail Gujrat and Tasawar Abbas to the district jail Gujrat.
According to the notification, Mohammad Zaheer, warder at the district jail Mandi Bahauddin, was transferred to Gujrat, Mohammad Mudassar sent from district jail Jhelum to Attock and Mohammad Asif from Jhelum to the sub-jail Chakwal.
The DIG directed the concerned authorities to immediately relieve the warders who have been transferred.
Former deputy superintendent of Adiala jail Mohammad Akram was taken into custody by law enforcement agencies and later transferred to the prison directorate Lahore on the charges of facilitating PTI founder Imran Khan in the jail.
Later, an additional superintendent and his two deputies were also transferred.
About the seven warders, the authorities claimed that their transfer was made on administrative grounds.
However, sources said the warders were part of the network of former deputy superintendent Mohammad Akram. More transfers in the Adiala jail are expected, they said.
