Dir MPC wants findings of college graft probe made public
LOWER DIR: Participants of a multiparty conference held here the other day demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to make public the findings of an inquiry conducted into alleged funds’ embezzlement in Timergara Medical College.
The MPC was called by Dir Qaumi Pasoon.
The participants decided to bring people onto the roads if the college’s principal was not appointed within a week.
President of Dir Qaumi Jirga Sahibzada Yaqub Khan, PML-N leader Malik Jehan Zeb Khan, JI district emir Izazul Mulk Afkari, former MPA Saeed Gul, JUI-F district chief Sirajuddin, PPP district secretary information Alam Zeb Advocate, Dir Qaumi Pasoon chief Malik Jehan Alam Yousafzai, district bar’s former president Abid Hayat and others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers pointed out that the college was inaugurated by PTI founder Imran Khan, former chief minister Pervez Khattak and JI former chief Sirajul Haq on various occasions, but classes could not be launched till date.
They said over 150 employees, including clerical staff, assistant professors and associate professors, had also been appointed, but the principal was yet to be appointed. They said classes at the college could not commence without the appointment of principal.
The speakers said there had been reports about funds’ embezzlement in the college.
ARREST: The police claimed on Monday to have traced a blind murder case and arrested a man for killing his wife a month ago.
Speaking at a press conference, SP investigations Rashid Ahmad said a woman hailing from Sarai village of Talash was found dead in mysterious circumstances a month ago, and her husband had charged his rivals with killing her.
He said the police arrested Asadullah, Raza Hussain, Javed Hussain and Fida in the case, but investigations proved them innocent.
SP Ahmad said the woman’s husband, Umar Wahid, was taken into custody, who confessed to have killed his wife. He said the police also recovered a Kalashnikov, which he used to kill his wife.
Meanwhile, Maulana Shamsul Arifeen was elected president and Qari Mubarak Syed general secretary of the Timergara tehsil chapter of JUI-F for next five years on Monday.
Over 200 members of the JUI-F general council participated in the voting.
