PRA warning to restaurants resisting EIMS
LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has launched a crackdown on establishments / businesses failing to install the mandated Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS).
In last couple of days, according to a spokesperson for the authority, more than 100 restaurants have been issued show-cause notices for non-compliance of the instructions regarding installation of EIMS.
Additionally, the Punjab Revenue Authority teams have issued warning letters to restaurants that have installed the system but not using them by issuing receipts / invoices to the customers.
The crackdown, the spokesperson said, aims at enforcing the proper use of the system and prevent potential revenue leakages.
Under the revised regulations, it is now compulsory for restaurants with an annual income of Rs6 million or more to install the EIMS. Previously, this requirement applied only to establishments with an annual income of Rs10 million or more.
The PRA had earlier collected revenue amounting to Rs239 billion during the 2023-24 fiscal which ended on June 30 this year, showing growth of 20 per cent if compared with the total revenue collection at PKR 200.1 billion during 2022-23.
