Education board chief’s appointment sought

SWAT: A number of local parents and students urged the KP chief minister to consider appointment of chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Swat from within the district.

This demand was voiced during a meeting in Mingora on Sunday, led by social activists Ismail Khan, Kishwar Ali, and Amjad Ali and others. Dozens of parents and local youth participated in the meeting.

The attendees urged the local parliamentarians to raise the issue of appointing a qualified local candidate for the position with the chief minister.

They noted that the KP chief minister’s secretariat had recently sent a summary for the appointment of the BISE chairman, and the list included the names of Syed Nabi Shah from Swat, Tasbhullah from Charsadda, and Saeed Sani from Mardan. “We have learned that priority is being given to the candidate from Charsadda, which is unjust,” they stated.

The meeting participants noted that Syed Nabi Shah had already served as the education board chief in the past, and he was the most appropriate professional to be appointed against the post.
