KARACHI, Feb 3: The government of Sindh will provide all possible facilities to the operators introducing large-size buses in Karachi.

This was stated by provincial transport minister, Dewan Mohammed Yousuf Farooqui, while talking to a delegation of the DAEWOO Pakistan led by its chief executive, Jai Ik Kim.

During meeting, the DAEWOO delegation showed interest in operating 100 large, air-conditioned buses in Karachi.

The delegation said they would operate the buses if they were given subsidy in their transport operation as was done by the Punjab government.

But, Dewan Yousuf said the government wanted to provide comfortable and affordable transport facilities.

He told the delegation to switch to CNG which was cost-effective on one hand and reduced air pollution on the other.

On the occasion, EDO transport and communication, Dr Tahir Soomro, informed that the Hino Pak had agreed in principle to introduce 25 large-size buses immediately while some other operators too had shown interest.—APP
