DHAKA, March 15: The US Peace Corps has suspended operations in Bangladesh fearing reprisals from militants after the arrest of their top leaders, a government statement said on Wednesday.

Seventy-one members of the government-run volunteer agency were working in the country, mainly teaching English in schools and colleges. “The Peace Corps in Washington has decided to suspend indefinitely its program in Bangladesh,” said a statement on the US embassy website.—AFP
