Honour-related row claims third life

SAHIWAL: Three people have been killed in 63/GD on an honour dispute within the Khetran clan in one year.

On Thursday night, Allah Dita, Umer Daraz, and Ashiq killed Zaheer Abbas, while his younger brother Mahboobul Hasan escaped death by taking cover in a nearby cattle pond. The Bahadur Shah police registered a murder FIR on the complaint by deceased’s elder brother Muhammad Yaqoob.

Last year, Imran, of the same village and an employee of the prison department, eloped with Rabia, Zaheer’s wife. Rabia was Imran’s maternal cousin, and Zaheer his paternal cousin. Zaheer filed a kidnapping case against Imran, Allah Dita and Umer Daraz and others. Dita, Umer and others were arrested for investigation.

Allegedly, Imran shared ‘indecent’ videos of Rabia on local social media platforms. In the same year, Imran and his first cousin Rustam were murdered under suspicious circumstances. The Bahadur Shah police registered a murder case against Zaheer, Mahboob and others.

Recently, Dita and Umer obtained interim bail and to avenge Imran and Rustam’s murders, they along with Ashiq targeted Zaheer and Mahboob.

Umer is the son of Rustam, while Dita is the brother of deceased Imran. The police are looking into the case.

POISONED: A woman was poisoned to death by her husband, sister and brother-in-law over a property dispute in neighbourhood Faridabad, Pakpattan, on Friday.

Reports said that Sajida Bibi, 35, entered into a second marriage with Muhammad Amir three years ago against the will of her family. Sajida owned a three marla house, and after marriage, Amir moved into that house. A dispute arose between the couple as Amir demanded that Sajida transfer ownership to his name, which she refused. Allegedly, Sajida’s sister Fozia Bibi and her husband Afzal supported Amir in this demand.

On Thursday night, Afzal, Fozia, and Amir scuffled with Sajida over the same issue. Amir beat his wife and forcibly administered some liquid into her mouth, while Fozia and Afzal helped him.

Upon Sajida’s cries for help, neighbours rushed to the scene and Rescue 1122 shifted her to the DHQ Hospital where she succumbed to the poisoning after four hours.

An autopsy was conducted on Sajida’s body, and samples from her stomach were sent for forensic analysis.

The Saddar police registered a murder case on a complaint by deceased’s father Khadim Hussain against Muhammad Amir, Afzal and Fozia and of them Afzal and Fozia have been arrested.
