Road dividers

THE road dividers constructed by the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Phase-I have been causing significant problems to the residents. These annoying dividers hamper navigation and access while creating traffic congestion and raising safety concerns for pedestrians and motorists alike.

Compounding the issue is the DHA’s total disregard for the judicial order by a two-judge Sindh High Court bench, which in December 2023 had unequivocally ordered the removal of all dividers, citing their adverse impact on traffic flow and storm-water flow into the drains. Despite the clear directive, the DHA has persisted in maintaining the dividers, disregarding the welfare and rights of the area residents.

Moreover, the DHA needs to prioritise the wellbeing and convenience of the community by promptly adhering to the court’s order and removing the road dividers. Furthermore, the relevant authorities should enforce compliance with the court’s ruling, and ensure that such unilateral actions by the DHA do not go unchecked in the future. It is vital that reason, logic and the rule of law prevail.
