Netanyahu claims US pressure isn’t the reason for delayed Rafah operation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin has said that impending incursion in Rafah is not delayed because of Ramazan, US pressure, or “any hesitancy,” The Times of Israel reports.

“It takes certain preparations,” he said, adding that Israel is dealing with the humanitarian preparations.

“It won’t take a lot of time. Nothing will stop us, not US pressure,” he said.

Netanyahu said he told US President Joe Biden that he appreciated the support, but “did not appreciate the decision in the Security Council”.

“I thought it was a deplorable decision […] That’s why I thought I had to send a clear message on this issue,” he said.

“If we have to, we will fight with our fingernails,” Netanyahu said he told Biden.
