Iesco warns kite flyers against damaging its equipment

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Chief Executive Dr Mohammad Amjad Khan on Wednesday said that kite flying had become dangerous and is a blood sport that had taken so many human lives.

He stated that the use of metal string causes frequent tripping on power distribution systems, resulting in damage to transformer meters and customers electronic appliances.

In a statement, Dr Amjad noted that customers, especially parents, should educate their children regarding the negative impacts of kite flying and should stop them forcefully to avoid any unpleasant incidents.

He directed all Iesco field formations to take departmental and legal action against kite flyers with the collaboration of the district administration, adding that proper FIRs must be registered against the culprit causing danger to human life and damaging our distribution system.

He has further requested people not to remove kites and metal wires entangled in transformers or in 11 kV lines by themselves, as it can lead to any unpleasant incident.

Moreover, Dr Amjad suggested they call the relevant complaint office or help line number 118 so that complaint staff could remove them.
