AMMAN: The Egyptian delegation to the Beirut conference ... has suggested some form of Arab League trusteeship over a separate Palestine Arab State, according to usually well-informed sources in Amman. This trusteeship could operate under a United Nations mandate. The same source said that Saudi Arabia and Syria supported the plan. The plan was to envisage financial, economic, and military assistance from League members amount at the start to £5 million a year, gradually diminishing as conditions return to normal. ... Both Egyptians and Palestinians advocate a plebiscite under United Nations supervision to decide whether the Arab portion of Palestine should be unified with Transjordan.

[Meanwhile, according to news agencies from Lahore] A deputation of the Punjab Muslim Students’ Federation waited upon H.E. Khwaja Nazimuddin, Governor-General of Pakistan, today [March 26]. The deputationists ... suggested to his Excellency that the Government should send student delegations to the Muslim countries to promote brotherly relations with the students of those countries. The Governor-General, it is said, advised the students to work for the eradication of un-Islamic influences from national life.
