NEW DELHI: The UN Commission for India and Pakistan in the course of a statement today [March 25] on the nomination of Admiral Nimitz as Plebiscite Administrator for Kashmir has emphasised the need of an early conclusion of a truce agreement so that matters concerning the holding of a plebiscite can be proceeded with without “undue delay”. The Commission has appealed to ... India and Pakistan for mutual co-operation in working out the terms of the truce and the details for the organisation and holding of the plebiscite within the framework of the principles already agreed on by the two Governments.

[Meanwhile, according to a report from Bahawalpur,] the Prime Minister of Pakis­tan, Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, advised the people of Bahawalpur state to “first deserve and then desire” while addressing a large public meeting at Harunabad… . He was accompanied by the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Bahawalpur, Colonel Dring.

… Mr Liaquat Ali Khan said that mere passing of resolutions could not bring about an Islamic State that the people desired. It were ... practical Islamic deeds of people which could make Pakistan a true Islamic State.
