PCB spends on kits when others earn money
LAHORE, March 8: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is spending millions of rupees to provide kits to all its teams when it should be earning money through sponsorship deals. PCB has been purchasing kits for Pakistan seniors, Under-19, ‘A’ and Academy teams from a foreign-based company.
The company is also getting mileage by having its logo on front of the shirts, trousers and pullovers.
On the contrary, Indian, Australian and other cricket boards are earning millions of dollars through sponsorships.
The Indian cricket board had signed a four-year contract worth US$40 million with a multi-national company while the Australians had similar contract with a company.
When contacted, the PCB chairman, Shaharyar M. Khan, admitted the board was purchasing the kits but said the matter had already been discussed and a contract like the Indians and Australians would be signed.
