Islamabad resident seeks registration of robbery case

ISLAMABAD: A woman has lodged a complaint with Humak Police seeking registration of a robbery case in which the culprits shot and injured her son, sources told Dawn.

In her complaint the woman also complained that despite informing the police about the incident and call made on police helpline, no one responded. Later passersby shifted her injured son to hospital.

According to the report of police monitoring system, Gul Nasreen, a resident of Rawalpindi in her complaint said that her son Shahzad ran online riding service. On February 2, 2024, a man booked his ride from Katchery Chowk to DHA Phase 3 at around 10pm.

The passenger asked him to stop when they reached Village Rajwal, the report said, adding that the passenger pulled out a pistol and held Shahzad at gunpoint and asked him to hand over cash and valuables.

On refusal the robbers opened fire on him and as a result he sustained a bullet injury in his head, while two other fires missed the target, it said adding that later the gunmen looted Rs3,000 cash, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from him and escaped.

The passersby called police on their helpline and informed them about the incident, however, no one responded to the call, the report said, adding that the passersby shifted the injured to hospital.

Later she came over the Humak police station to lodge a complaint over the incident, however, the police asked him to come next day, it said adding that she visited the police station for three consecutive days.

On February 26, the police visited the crime scene and made a report that the area, where the crime occurred did not fall in the limits of Humak, the report said, adding that after establishing that the area was located in the limits of the Humak police station the woman again came to the police station on Feb 27.

However, the police refused to receive complaint from her, besides, the SHO of the area was also not available and the police did not take any action. The woman requested to register a case over the incident and take action against the gunman, the report said.

The report further said that woman lodged a complaint with the police, however, as per the complaint, circumstances, and inspection of the crime scene it was revealed that the incident took place at abandoned Road at Bahria Town Phase 7, which was located in the DHA. The area is not located in the limits of Humak Police Station, so the complaint was registered at Daily Diary, it added.
