KARACHI: The big Powers of the world were accused of sacrificing Palestine for their own ends at the Palestine Day meeting held at Jehangir Park, Karachi, on Friday [Feb 25] afternoon. Over 20,000 people attended the meeting, which was organised by the Pakistan Muslim Youth Organisation. Miss Fatima Jinnah presided. Shaikh Abdullah Ghosheh, Shaikh Salim Al-Huseini and Sardar Aurangzeb were among the prominent speakers.

Miss Fatima Jinnah in her presidential address said that the recognition of the so-called “state of Israel” by Britain was surprising. Britain should have had consideration for the feelings of other members of the Commonwealth. “Palestine is an Islamic country bound to the people of Pakistan by religious, historical, cultural and natural ties. The unjustifiable step on the part of Britain in recognising ‘Israel’ created a wave of indignation among the people of Pakistan,” she said.

Miss Jinnah added that in case the sentiments of the people of Pakistan “are disrespected and ignored relating to Islamic countries, Pakistan will have to reconsider the situation created thereby”.
