Funeral for Parveen Illahibukhsh Soomro held

KARACHI: The Namaz-i-Janaza of Parveen Illahibukhsh Soomro, who passed away on Tuesday at her home, were held in the metropolis on Wednesday.

She was the wife of Illahibukhsh Soomro, a highly respected politician from Sindh.

Born in Shikarpur in 1929, she was the daughter of Kishan Chand Panjabi, a Cambridge-educated barrister.

She was one of the very few girls from the subcontinent who studied at the Karachi Grammar School in the 1940s. She and late Nawab Akbar Bugti were classmates.

Ms Soomro was a well travelled elegant person with a great sense of humour and many friends. She loved Karachi where she spent most of her life surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, her son Zubyr, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
