From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1974: Fifty Years Ago: Bhutto’s caution

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Z.A. Bhutto today [Jan 19] cautioned the people against international conspiracies being hatched against Pakistan and added that there were foreign agents at work within the country to harm the integrity and solidarity of Pakistan. He was addressing an open kutchery at Mirpurkhas. … Mr Bhutto said that he would strain every nerve to see that no harm was done to Pakistan. … He further said: “We can proudly say that the struggle launched by the Muslims of the sub-continent was right and it succeeded because it was based on justice and truth.”

Mr Bhutto [said] that conspiracies did no good to any people and asked what the people of Bangladesh could achieve by hatching a plot against Pakistan. … Mr Bhutto said there were people in the land that go to Kabul for medical treatment, as if there were no hospitals in the country. And these people do not seek admission in the hospitals there also, but instead indulge in palace intrigues there. The Prime Minister said he had toured Baluchistan and NWFP to take the people of those provinces into confidence and tell them what sinister conspiracies were at work against their interest.
