New tech launched for solar power plants

ISLAMABAD: Power and information technology researchers have launched cutting-edge technology for the development of solar power plants.

Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB), CARE and Huawei Pakistan on Tuesday jointly unveiled the white paper on Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) for Photovoltaic (PV) systems, marking significant progress in solar power technology.

AFCI is an AI-based feature in the inverters to mitigate the safety hazards associated with DC Arcs within PV systems. This function helps shut down the complete system as soon as an Arc is generated and saves any untoward incident from causing further damage to both life and property.

Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun emphasised the importance of the AFCI in advancing technological frontiers.

PPIB Managing Director Shah Jahan Mirza lauded Huawei’s commitment to technological advancement and expressed optimism that the introduction of this cutting-edge technology would play a pivotal role in addressing Pakistan’s power challenges.
