Ahsan launches campaign for son’s election

NAROWAL: PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal has started election campaign of his son Ahmad Iqbal for PP-54 (Narowal-1) in Pindi Bohri and Sarjal villages of Zafarwal tehsil.

The seat was previously held by PML-N’s Owais Qasim who belongs to the Daniyal Aziz camp.

Addressing a public gathering on Monday, Ahsan Iqbal said politicians of Zafarwal and Shakargarh had not done anything for the locals during last 70.

Ahsan Iqbal launched the campaign in the company of five former MPAs of the district, including Khawaja Muhammad Wasim Butt, Rana Manan Khan, Muhammad Bilal Akbar Khan, Colonel retired Shujaat Ahmad Khan and Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora.

Local union council chairmen, councilors and hundreds of people participated in the public meeting in Pindi Bohri and Sarjal.

When Daniyal Aziz was contacted for his comments, it was learnt that he was sick.

Usman Ali and Mohammad Aslam Gujjar, workers of Daniyal Aziz group, said that Ahsan Iqbal’s rally in Pindi Bohri and Sarjal was a failure.

They said due to the fear of Daniyal Aziz’ following in the constituency, Ahsan Iqbal was banking on ex-MPAs to run the campaign of his son.

According to a local journalist, a tough competition was expected among three candidates. He said former provincial minister Pir Syed Saeed Al Hasan Shah, Ahmed Iqbal and former MPA Owais Qasim were running their election campaign in their traditional political style.
