NAROWAL: The mega project of the University of Applied Engineering and Emerging Technology will be completed by 2024 at a cost of Rs17 billion.

This was stated by Khalid Saleem, Punjab Higher Education Department secretary, while talking to the media after visiting the project under construction in Sambarial, Sialkot.

He said the university, spread on 400 acres, will fulfill the need of research and human resource for the local industry. He said Rs4 billion had been spent on the project so far.

Khalid Salim said the university will offer PhD level programmes in industrial, manufacturing and mechanics, chemical and material, artificial and agricultural engineering, including information technology and industrial biotechnology.

He said according to the timeline, the project is to be completed in September 2024.

Gujranwala Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, Sialkot Deputy Commissioner ShahMeer Iqbal and project consultant were also present.
