‘Hopes were dashed’: UN relief chief again calls for humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza
Martin Griffiths, the UN’s emergency relief coordinator, has said that “hopes were dashed” after fighting between Israel and Hamas resumed on Friday.
Calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, he said the people of Gaza “live surrounded by disease, destruction and death”, which he termed “unacceptable”.
“The situation in Khan Younis today is a shocking reminder of whathappens” when guns do not fall silent, Griffiths stated.
