Minister unhappy with DCs, revenue officials

HYDERABAD: Caretaker Sindh Minister for Revenue and Industries and Commerce Mohammad Younus Dagha has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of deputy commissioners and concerned revenue officials in Hyderabad division.

He lamented slower evaluation of the cases of suspicious entries and authentication of revenue matters and urged the DCs to investigate such cases without delay so that the backlog could be decreased.

He was presiding over a meeting of the DCs of Hyderabad division through video link at the commissioner’s office on Wednesday where he scrutinised reports submitted by the officers in the backdrop of last month’s meeting.

“If any mukhtiarkar or assistant commissioner is found involved in manipulation of (revenue) records he will be taken to task,” he warned.

He underlined the need for organising open kachehries at taluka level for resolving revenue related issues and directed the DCs to ensure transparency in the entire process of revenue documentation.

He said that action was being taken to empower the DCs to decide cases of suspicious entries as per Revenue Act. The government departments’ image was to be built so that officers/officials were considered facilitators for common man, he said.

He lauded efforts for initiating establishment of facilitation desks in some districts which would pave the way for starting E-service Sindh App soon.

Meanwhile, chairing a meeting on the issues of Hyderabad SITE, he directed officers to speed up work on greenbelt and removal of encroachments from the industrial area. Hyderabad Commissioner Khalid Hyder Shah also attended the meeting.
