Maleeha Lodhi, former Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations, has said that unless the “US administration calls unequivocally for a ceasefire” in Gaza, statements such as those made by state secretary Antony Blinken were “not significant”.

She termed the statement by Blinken, which said the US did not support Israeli occupation of Gaza, a “declaratory ‘shift’ in position”.
