PTI leader quits party

GUJAR KHAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and candidate for the National Assembly seat in Gujar Khan announced his decision to part his ways with the party over what he said May 9 incidents after the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan in Al-Qadir Trust case.

In his late-night announcement on his facebook handle, Chaudhary Mohammad Azeem said that he had joined the PTI in 2011 and worked hard to establish the party in the constituency. “I condemn the policy of confrontation of Imran Khan with the military establishment and other state institutions after he was ousted from power,” he said. He also condemned the riots of May 9 and 10, stressing that he had decided to quit the party. He concluded that he would decide his future political strategy after consultation with family and friends.

According to details, Chaudhry Mohammad Azeem had contested for the National Assembly seat in NA-58 in 2018 against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate National Assembly Speaker, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate, Raja Javaid Ikhlas.

Azeem had secured 98,000 votes in the constituency and was runner-up.
