Education official suspended after text books theft

MUZAFFARGARH: An official of the education department of Muzaffargarh was suspended from service after 7,000 books, sent for the government schools, were stolen from the warehouse of the department.

According to the details, the books were handed over from the warehouse of the education department to Haroon and Muhammad Aslam, high school contractors of Rangpur. But instead of delivering the books to the schools, they were transported to a private house and reportedly went missing.

Taking notice of the case of books theft, a case was registered against Haroon and Aslam with the City Police Station on the complaint of warehouse in-charge, Shehzad Ali. After the registration of the case, the stolen government books were recovered from a house. Education CEO Muzaffargarh Tariq Habib suspended Shehzad from service over negligence.

The deputy district education officer Chowk Sarwar Shaheed has been issued comprehensive inquiry orders for a complete investigation into the matter.

The CEO education said the practice of stealing books was already going on but this time he recovered the books and registered the case against the culprits.

DPI’S LETTER: The director public instruction (DPI) wrote a letter to the Dera Ghazi Khan commissioner and district police officer (DPO) against the Anti-Corruption Establishment officials who allegedly entered the office of the deputy director colleges, harassed her, misbehaved with her and her staff despite the fact that she was already on bail. The ACE staff took the record from the office also.

Shaheen, the deputy director colleges, claimed that the case against her was planted because she was neither a signatory authority nor the recruitment member in the case.

She alleged the ACE officials pushed her and tried to catch her while she cried and called for help.

Sources said some former MPAs were forcing the ACE Muzaffargarh team to pressurise the deputy director colleges while the application against her was submitted by former deputy commissioner Samiullah Farooq after the principals of the government colleges refused to recruit the men of the former MPAs on 72 posts of class IV.
