MUZAFFARGARH: Sanawan police claimed on Friday to have recovered the motorcycle of a theft case complainant that was allegedly stolen from the police station, while the owner apologised for earlier giving a “wrong statement”, saying he had actually parked his bike outside a restaurant.
On Sept 17, a local, Arif, said in a social media video clip that he had gone to file a theft complaint at Sanawan police station from where his motorcycle was stolen.
Taking notice of the clip, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Hasnain Haider ordered the police to recover the bike.
The district police spokesperson claimed that during investigation a CCTV footage was seen that showed the bike was actually stolen from outside a restaurant.
He said that on being grilled, the complainant admitted he had uploaded a “false” video clip on social media. On Friday, police recovered the stolen bike and arrested the suspected thieve.
The spokesperson said the complainant also submitted a written apology for the false video clip.
BOY DROWNS: A boy allegedly drowned in Muzaffargarh Canal, some 55 kilometers away from the city on Friday.
Rescue 1122 officials said 11-year-old Arshad went to the canal for swimming, but disappeared in deep water in Bate Mir Hazar area of Jatoi tehsil.
On the call of a local, a team of Rescue 1122 divers reached the spot and launched a search for the missing boy.
The divers after hectic efforts retrieved the body of the boy which was later handed over to his family.
