KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the federal and provincial authorities on a petition seeking abolishment of entrance fee for the visitors at the Quaid’s mausoleum.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh put the secretary of the National Heritage and Culture Division, secretaries of the finance and cabinet divisions, resident engineer of Quaid-i-Azam Management Board, Sindh chief secretary and Karachi commissioner on notice with direction to file comments by the next hearing.

Waqef Shah had filed a petition against imposition of entrance fee on the visitors. He stated that the magnificent parks like Minar-i-Pakistan and mausoleum of Allama Iqbal in Lahore had no entry fee for visitors.

The petitioner said that being a citizen of the country and taxpayer, he had sent applications to the secretary of the National Heritage and Culture Division on June 27 and December 7 last year for withdrawal of the fee from Mazar-i-Quaid for general public, but the respondent did not reply to such requests.
