Bajaur peace body to extend struggle to all merged areas

BAJAUR: All Bajaur Peace Action Committee leaders on Saturday decided to extend their movement to all the merged districts for restoration of normalcy in the region.

The leaders of the committee, including political and social activists, religious, trade leaders and elders, made the announcement during a meeting chaired by the body’s chairman Maulana Abdur Rasheed, the emir of JUI-F’s local chapter.

PPP provincial leader Sayed Akhunzada Chattan, ANP district president Gul Afzal Khan, JI vice-chief Maulana Waheed Gul, PML-N district president Malik Gul Kareem Khan, PPP district president Haji Sher Bahadar, ANP’s provincial working committee member Sheikh Jan Zada and others addressed the meeting.

The meeting held in the backdrop of the deadly suicide bombing on a JUI-F gathering on July 30, which killed scores of people and injured over 100, was meant to devise a plan of action to establish durable peace in the region.

On the occasion, Abdur Rasheed said the July 30 bombing had saddened the whole nation, but the incident further motivated the party’s leadership and workers to struggle for peace.

Other speakers vowed to continue their efforts till complete peace was restored in the district. The participants decided to extend their struggle to all the tribal districts, taking on board all segments of society.

They said the next line of action would be devised in a meeting to be hosted by the JI’s local chapter during the ongoing month.
