Two brothers suffocate while digging well
LOWER DIR: Two brothers died of suffocation while working in a well here on Tuesday, residents and the police said.
They said the victims were working in an under-construction open well in Old Maila Dak area of Timergara when they fell unconscious.
Later, a Rescue 1122 team pulled out the bodies of two brothers, who were identified as Sohail, 26, and Shoaib, 22, residents of Miskini Dara area.
The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara, from where the volunteers of the Al-Khidmat Foundation took them in an ambulance to their home town.
Meanwhile, eight members of a family were injured when a mudslide hit their house in Andheri village triggered by heavy rain here on Tuesday.
A Rescue 1122 team retrieved the injured and shifted them to the DHQ Hospital. Their condition is stated to be out of danger.
The district administration officials visited the affected family and provided it with tents, mats, a gas cylinder, a cooler and blankets.
Rainwater also entered houses in Walai Kandao area on Monday night, but the rescuers shifted a total of 30 affected persons, including 15 women, to a safe place at night.
Separately, a man was stabbed to death when a beggar attacked him in the Mayar Bazaar on Tuesday, residents and police said.
They said the traffic police arrested the alleged killer.
The Mayar police registered a case against him. The deceased was identified as Shatir Lala of Mayar Jandol.
