HYDERABAD: Flyover design approved
HYDERABAD, Feb 1: The design of a flyover in unit-7 of Latifabad was approved at a meeting which discussed development schemes in the district.
District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil presided over the meeting held at his secretariat.
Consultants were directed to submit tender documents within two weeks so that the scheme could be implemented without further delay.
The meeting decided to speed up development works to bring about development and facilitate people of Hyderabad.
The nazim said that after provision of clean drinking water and efficient drainage system, providing better communication facilities to people was the priority of the district government.
He directed consultants to prepare and submit PC-I of two bridges, one each at the Lined Channel and the Pinyari Canal, in 15 days to implement the schemes within shortest possible time to avoid traffic congestion.
He also asked consultants to furnish PC-I of sewers in Qasimabad and Latifabad talukas by Feb 2 so that the schemes could be launched simultaneously without delay.
The meeting also reviewed PC-I of roads in the city submitted by consultants and decided to review cost estimates.
MUHARRAM: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has directed authorities concerned to adopt a foolproof security plan to ensure peace and tranquillity during Muharram.
Presiding over a meeting of the district peace committee on Monday, he directed to remove provocative wall chalking.
The nazim asked the Wasa management to cover manholes on routes of processions. He also directed for lighting of the routes and making proper parking arrangements outside Imambargahs and mosques. He said fire brigade and bomb disposal squads should remain on high alert.
DPO Ali Ahmad Junejo said police had prepared a security plan to maintain law and order in the district during Muharram and foil nefarious designs of anti-social elements.
He informed that six close-circuit cameras were being installed in different areas. He said a police control room had been established with telephone numbers 9200281, 9200700, 9200636 and 9200637.
The nazim said the district government had also set up a control room where complaints could be lodged on telephone number 9260108 in case of any emergency. Besides, he said, another complaint centre with toll free telephone number 139 had been established at Qadamgah Maula Ali.
HCCI: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has termed inordinate delay in reconstruction of the Super Highway as a conspiracy against economic development of the province.
The executive committee of the chamber met here on Wednesday with Masood Pervez in the chair.
The meeting condemned the delay in reconstruction of the highway at three places.
It said the reconstruction work had been started two years ago without any planning.
The meeting noted that the contractor had closed the highway at three places of seven kilometres each without providing alternative route.
It pointed out that the entire import and export of the country suffered losses during the two years. The chamber said 55 people had lost their lives and hundreds of others received injuries due to closure of the highway.
