Housing scams’ affectees file plaints at NAB open court

LAHORE: The affectees of four housing societies on Friday lodged complaints with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and demanded recovery of their “looted” money.

In an open court held by NAB Lahore at its provincial headquarters here on Friday, the affectees of Khayaban-i-Amin Housing Society, Lahore Motorway City, Formanites Housing Society and Abuzar Housing Society informed the bureau that they had made full payment against their plots/houses, but were not being given possession of the properties by these housing societies.

Some of the affectees of the Pak Memon Impex also filed their compensation claims with the bureau. The complainants alleged that Pak Memon management made false promise of giving loans for purchase of vehicles and misappropriated hefty amounts from people’s hard earned money on this pretext.

NAB Lahore Director General Amjad Majeed Aulakh listened to the complainants and issued directives for redressal of the people’s grievances.

Scrutiny process has been initiated with regard to the applications submitted in the the open hearing and a quick action would be taken on the complaints, the DG said. He added that recoveries to the tune of billions have been made by NAB Lahore in the recent past, and the regional bureau is all set to redress the public grievances on priority.

He announced that the open hearings would continue between 10am to 12pm on last Friday of every month in which he himself would listen to the complainants.
