Timergara police lines to be built at all costs: DPO
LOWER DIR: The district police officer, Ziauddin, has said the administration will implement the court’s decision regarding the construction of Timergara police lines.
Briefing local journalists about the matter at his office here on Monday, he said that no one would be allowed to take law into his hands. DSPs Rashid Khan and Fakhr-i-Alam besides other officials were also present on the occasion.
The DPO clarified that the 200-kanal land allocated for construction of police lines in Walai Kandao area in Lower Dir was purchased in 2010. He said the landowners in 2015 moved court against the sale dead on which the apex court ordered construction of police lines on 130-kanal while the owners were given 70-kanal of the disputed land.
He said that a team of senior lawyers worked on the demarcation on court’s orders. He said that police department totally agreed to the court’s decision and the commission’s demarcation.
The DPO said that the landowners were present during the process of demarcation and they had also agreed to it and signed the papers.
They said that some of the owners were now protesting that was beyond understanding.
He said that neither a rest house nor a bungalow was being built but only a police lines was being constructed on the purchased land.
He made it clear that the police lines would be built at any cost and the department would not bow before the landowners in that regard.
PROTEST: The Christian community here on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
Church of Pakistan Timergara priest Saleem Umar, former minority district councillor Shehzad Khokar, Salman Tanveer and Kamran Razaq said on the occasion that Christians were equally hurt by the desecration of Quran in Sweden.
Condemning the incident, they said that all religions should respect each other.
They said that the Swedish government should immediately arrest the accused and make him an example for others.
