Commissioner promises to resolve Regi land dispute

PESHAWAR: Commissioner Mohammad Zubair on Wednesday said the dispute over three zones of Regi Model Town, which has been pending for the last 33 years, will be resolved impeccably soon.

Announcing to visit the disputed zones of the area, he said that he would meet the members of Kukikhel tribe and officials of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) to resolve the longstanding issue.

He was addressing a meeting held here to discuss the 33-year-old pending issue of land ownership in Regi Model Town zones 1,2 and 4. The meeting was attended by deputy commissioner of Khyber, additional deputy commissioner of Peshawar, additional director general of Regi Model Town, officials of PDA and the people affected by the dispute.

The additional director general of Regi Model Town gave a detailed briefing to the meeting on issues related to the dispute over ownership of land in the town.

The people affected by the dispute told the commissioner that they had purchased plots in Regi Model Town some 33 years ago. They said that owing to the dispute between the PDA and Kukikhel tribe, they were not awarded the ownership of their plots. They appealed to the commissioner to take interest in issue and resolve it.

The commissioner promised that he would take a personal interest in resolving the longstanding issue. He said that next week he would visit the disputed zones of the town.

He said that he would also meet with representatives of Kukikhel tribe and officials of PDA to resolve the issue.
