PN ship takes part in Indonesia war games

ISLAMABAD: A ship of the Pakistan Navy is on a visit to Indonesia to participate in a multinational exercise.

The visit of PNS Tipu Sultan is aimed at strengthening ties with the Indonesian navy, “enhancing interoperability and exploring new vistas for cooperation”, the PN stated on Saturday.

Upon arrival at Makassar port, the ship was welcomed by officials from the Indonesian navy.

Officials of the two navies discussed matters of mutual interest, contribution to regional peace and maritime security.

The ship took part in a programme, known as “international fleet review”, at Makassar port.

“Officers and crew participated in conferences, seminars, knowledge-sharing sessions and social welfare activities,” the PN statement said.

The ship also participated in search and rescue operations and a maritime interdiction operation exercise. Ships from Australia, Brunei, China, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, US and Vietnam took part in the activities.
