ISLAMABAD: The government has allocated Rs 2bn for a Film Finance Fund and Rs1bn for health insurance of artists in the next fiscal year’s budget, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced on Friday.

Earlier, she revealed that Rs1bn had been set aside to provide media workers and working journalists with health insurance cover.

“I am certain that, jointly, these measures will play a major role in the growth of our film industry and improvement in the welfare of our nation’s artists,” she said, adding this would also help promote Pakistan’s narrative, heritage and culture through films.
