Roti price reduced to Rs18 in capital

ISLAMABAD: The capital administration here on Monday fixed the price of flat bread (roti) made inthe tandoor at Rs18.

According to a notification issued from the office of district magistrate, the price of a roti weighing 120 grams has been fixed at Rs18. However, the price of naan will remain unchanged, it added.

The orders will take effect from Monday, and will remain in force in Islamabad till further orders, the notification said, adding that any contravention of the order will be punishable under Price Control, Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977 and West Pakistan Food Stuffs (Control) Act, 1958.

Earlier, the price of roti was Rs20, the notification stated, adding however after decrease in the price of flour in the wholesale market, the price of the roti has also decreased.

District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon directed all assistant commissioners and magistrates to enforce the orders with letter and spirit so residents of the capital get benefit from reduction in the price of the roti. Mr Memon further directed the assistant commissioners (ACs) and the magistrate to take action as per law against violators of orders.
