Police set up community school in Katcha area

LAHORE: The Punjab Police have established a community school in the Katcha area of Rajanpur.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police said the initiative was taken on the directions of Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar in order to resume education activities for the children of the areas.

He said the school, named ‘Shaheed Rao Rahat Saleem Police Community School,’ was set up in the areas whose control had been taken back from the robbers and terrorists during the ongoing police operation.

Talking about the step, Dr Anwar said the generations coming from the Katcha would be equipped with education to make them useful citizens of the society.

He added the police were busy in action against criminals, terrorists and bandits in the Katcha areas of Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.

The police eliminated several dens and secret hideouts of criminals from Katcha by conducting targeted operations.

Rajanpur District Police Officer Nasir Sial said the branches of the community school had been established at Chak Moro and Kuchi Jamal, an area considered as a no-go area, and the school had been named after police commando Rao Rahat Saleem who was martyred during the operation.

He said the community school was being run in the infrastructure provided by the Punjab police while the manpower had also been provided by the department.

The children studying in the school were being given free books, bags, uniforms and lunch by the police department.

The DPO said that many boys and girls of the areas had been enrolled for education, including the children of the local citizens of Katcha and the children of the escaped facilitators.
