Fire breaks out in factory in Karachi’s Gabol Town
A fire broke out in a factory located in Sector 16-B of Karachi’s Gabol Town on Wednesday morning, police and rescue officials said.
Gabol Town Station House Officer Saqlain told Dawn.com that the fire erupted in a six-storey building on the factory’s premises at 7:30am.
He said fire tenders were called in from across the city to douse the blaze.
Efforts to extinguish the fire remained under way till late evening.
According to SHO Saqlain, four floors of the building were cleared by late evening while four fire tenders remained busy in extinguishing the fire on the remaining floors.
Citing initial reports, he said the fire was caused by a short circuit.
The SHO added that no injuries or casualties had been reported and an estimate of the financial loss caused by the blaze could not be immediately provided.
Last week, a man died and nearly 100 people were rescued after a fire erupted in a commercial building on the city’s main Shahrah-i-Liaquat in New Chali near Boulton Market.
Initial reports had suggested that the fire erupted because of a short circuit in the building. Around 15-20 offices were damaged in the blaze.
