People from outside Punjab can get driving licence in city
LAHORE: The City Traffic Police (CTP) has allowed the citizens belonging to any province to get driving licences from the provincial capital.
The Lahore chief traffic officer (CTO) has issued a directive in this regard here on Monday, enabling thousands of citizens travelling to Punjab from other provinces to get the driving licences from any centre of the city.
Similarly, the foreigners from other countries will also be able to obtain a licence from Lahore.
A spokesperson for the Lahore Traffic Police said earlier only the citizens holding Lahore CNIC were allowed to get this important facility from the city.
He said that the citizens coming from other provinces can get learner permit by visiting any licence centre.
After 42-day of learner permit, they would have to appear for sign and road test to obtain permanent licence as usual.
In this regard, the CTO Lahore has made the Liberty Market and Manawan centres functional 24/7 for the convenience and ease of the citizens, he said.
Arfa Karim Testing Centre, Greater Iqbal, Defence Centre and Bahria Town are providing licencing services from 8am to 12pm, he said adding that three mobile vans, 23 licence centres and six testing centres have been established across the city.
The CTO has directed the staff concerned to dispense driving licences to the citizens in a dignified manner.
