Three suspects killed in ‘firing by accomplices’

BAHAWALPUR: The Head Rajkan police claim to have killed three wanted criminals belonging to Muzzafargarh district during an ‘encounter’ here on Tuesday.

According to police spokesman Umar Saleem, police received a message that a gang comprising several armed dacoits had fled after allegedly snatching a motorcycle at gunpoint from a man.

He said when the police party cordoned off the entire area, the suspects fired on the police near village 24/DNB. During a shootout, police spotted three bodies.

The deceased identified as Haji Ahmed, Sadiq Hussain and Sohail Asghar were shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for autopsy.

Mr Saleem claimed that the outlaws were killed in firing by their accomplices.

Police recovered three motorcycles, two pistols and a Kalashnikov from the spot.

The spokesman said the outlaws had been active in tehsil Yazman areas for the previous many days and had also allegedly murdered a youth, Sajid Ali.

He claimed that they were wanted in a number of cases of murder and robbery in several districts including Muzzafargarh.

The Head Rajkan police have registered a case against the deceased and their absconding accomplices for firing on police party.

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Muhammad Abbas also visited the scene and announced commendation certificates and prizes for the team.

ARRESTED: Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa during his surprise inspection of Uch Sharif free flour centre got arrested two people who attempted to collect fraudulently two bags on forged CNICs.

Under DC’s orders, Muhammad Ammar and Rashid Ahmad were put behind bars after registration of a first information report against them.

As many as 217 CNICs of deserving men and women were also recovered from their possession.
