Wajahat, son get pre-arrest bail in firing case

GUJRAT: Additional District and Sessions Judge (AD&SJ) Younis Laar on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to former federal minister Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and his son Musa Elahi in a cases pertaining to alleged attack and firing on the house of a local PML-N leader.

The judge granted the bail before arrest to the father and son until April 12 in a fresh case lodged with Karianwala police station on March 19 the last. Their interim bail in a previous case has also been extended up to April 12.

Both the cases were lodged with Karianwala police station of Gujrat under sections 324 and some other sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the report of Muhammad Ali Gujjar, a PMLN-backed former chairman of Hajiwala Union Council and the party’s Gujrat chapter’s district vice president.

Mr Wajahat and his son appeared before the court after completion of their earlier bail on March 27 and the judge fixed the next date of hearing.

On the other hand, a Gujranwala anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday confirmed the bail before arrest of Wajahat Hussain in two other cases pertaining to the Kotla Civil Hospital clash.

These cases were registered with the Ghalib Market police station, Lahore and Kakrali police station, Gujrat, around a couple of months ago.

Mr Wajahat appeared before the ATC judge after completion of his bail before arrest in Kotla clash cases. The judge confirmed his bail, whereas the bail of his son Musa Elahi has already been confirmed in these cases by the same court.

Mr Wajahat was accompanied by scores of his supporters, when he arrived at the district and session courts, where strict security measures had been taken before his arrival.
