Cabinet decides to revamp CP&WB

LAHORE: The Punjab caretaker cabinet has expressed its dissatisfaction over the performance of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) and decided to revamp it.

The cabinet was informed during its 11th meeting here on Saturday that the CP&WB centres in the province were housing just 1,050 destitute children, where as the total number of the bureau’s staffers was 750.

The cabinet meeting, presided over by caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi decided to revamp the bureau.

The cabinet also approved recruitment of doctors and other allied staff on an ad hoc basis in the the specialized healthcare, medical education and primary and secondary healthcare departments.

It also approved extension in the service period of the contract employees of Public Health Engineering, Social Welfare and Baitul Maal departments.

It approved the transfer of the land of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department in Johar Town to the Special Education Department, to establish a state of the art Autism Centre for special children.

The meeting was told that so far seven million flour bags had been distributed among the deserving persons.
