Anti-bullying drives

BULLYING creates several problems among children, such as anxiety and depression. It destroys their confidence and makes them doubt their self-worth. Unfortunately, bullying is very common in school and colleges. It has always been, but the trend is now on the rise and there is a clear social divide to the pheno-menon, with children belonging to strong financial backgrounds mostly bullying others sharing the same campus.

Due to the rising incidents of bullying, there is a need to launch anti-bullying campaigns to spread awareness on mental health, societal values, and the consequences of bullying anywhere, be it an educational institution or workplace.

Such campaigns not only tell us about the disastrous effects of bullying, but also educate us about our rights and duties as individuals in society.

Islam has emphasised the values of kindness and brotherhood among people, and when students are taught about kindness from an early age, problems like bullying have a chance to be eliminated gradually.

Schools, colleges and workplaces should conduct surveys and run anti-bullying campaigns regularly to train their teachers and staff to deal with all such incidents effectively.
