Centenarian hakeem passes away in Swabi

SWABI: Gopal Gangavaish, a well-known Hindu hakeem, passed away here on Sunday due to heart attack. He was over 100.

He was not only known in Swabi but also in other districts for treating many a critical patient through his herbal medicine.

Earlier, he lived at Gandaf village of Gadoon Amazon mountainous belt, but shifted to Topi city about two decades ago.

Amjid Khan, one if his neighbours, told Dawn that he would stay alive in their hearts and minds as he was always soft-spoken and friendly.

Siraz Khan, a political activist, said Gangavaish had not only treated people but also produced many hakeems.

He said his daughter, Gopak Dina, was also a hakeem, who only treated women, and Gopal’s son was also in the same profession.
