Welfare package announced for provincial police

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Akhtar Hayat has announced a welfare package for the serving and the martyred personnel of the police force.

According to a statement issued from the office of the provincial police chief, the gift package on the wedding of a policeman’s first daughter has been enhanced from Rs30,000 to Rs100,000. Besides, the children of policemen would be provided financial help during their studies at educational institutions in and outside the province.

The statement said qualifiers for central superior services, provincial management services and judicial examinations would be provided Rs300,000 from the welfare fund. The monthly payments for the widows of the policemen, who embraced martyrdom and served in the department for less than 10 years, had been enhanced from Rs7,000 to Rs25,000.

The statement said Rs300,000 would be immediately provided to the personnel for an open heart surgery from the welfare fund, whereas Rs150,000 will be provided to their parents, widows and children for the same surgery.

The statement said Rs100,000 would be provided to a policeman, his parents, children and wife for treatment of cancer [first stage], and Rs500,000 to the policeman and Rs250,000 to his parents, children and wife for next stage cancer treatment.

It also stated that in case of kidney transplant, personnel would be provided Rs1 million, whereas their parents, wives and children would be provided Rs700,000. A similar package would be provided for liver and bone marrow transplants.

The statement said Rs30,000 per month would be provided to the policemen’s parents, wives and children for thalassaemia treatment. Parents, children and wives of the police personnel injured in bomb explosions or other accidents would be provided Rs100,000 each.

Funeral compensation has also been increased from Rs30,000 to Rs50,000, the statement said.
