RWMC told to make Murree Road a model for cleanliness

RAWALPINDI: The district administration has decided to make Murree Road as a model for cleanliness and free from encroachments.

Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha asked Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) to improve cleanliness of the city.

“From the general bus stand at Faizabad to Mareer, we have to make the city a role model in which relevant departments will play their role. Cleanliness of all union councils should be ensured. Satisfying citizens should be our first priority. Strict action should be taken against workers who are negligent,” he said.

He also asked for the repair of the damaged vehicles of the company immediately besides establishment of more transfer stations established in the city to facilitate the transportation of garbage to the landfill site.

Along with this, special attention should be given to cleanliness in Murree and tehsils. Bringing every work under a comprehensive system will help in ensuring the cleanliness of the city and tehsils.

He expressed these views at a briefing on the occasion of his visit to the head office of RWMC on Saturday. CEO of the company Rana Sajid Safdar and other officers were present on the occasion.

The commissioner said citizens were directly affected by cleanliness or not, so our target should be to satisfy them. When their grievances are redressed promptly and a clean environment is provided, it will bring good name to the company.

The CEO of the company told the commissioner that the RWMC was established in 2013 and it started its operation in 2014. The company is operating in Murree, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kahuta and different tehsils of Rawalpindi. He said there eight sub-departments of the company, 11 members in board of directors and the total staff was 4,785.

The commissioner said Murree Road was being made a model road so that the RWMC should ensure better cleanliness system on the busy artery.
