SARGODHA: An armed man looted cash and gold ornaments from a family returning home after midnight and allegedly assaulted a woman at gunpoint in Shahpur city police precincts, some 35km from here, on Friday night.

As per police, complainant Tahir Abbas said he along with his women relatives was returning from Adil Shah village by a bike on Friday night after attending a wedding event when an armed man stopped them. He snatched gold ornaments from three women and cash worth Rs300,000, took one of the women to nearby fields and allegedly assaulted her.

He said the suspect stopped other family members, including two men and as many women, riding a rickshaw and deprived them of cash. The district police officer visited the spot and assured the family of early arrest of the suspect.
