PESHAWAR: The provincial chapter of Pakistan Peoples Party has shown serious concerns over induction of some members in the caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without taking it into confidence and decided to take up the issue with central leadership.
The reservations were shown in a meeting of PPP provincial cabinet, which met with its acting provincial president Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha in the chair here on Sunday. Some of the participants of the meeting said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl were running the affairs of the province with free will without taking PPP leaders on board even during appointment of ministers and advisers.
“The participants also objected to induction of Jarrar Hussain Bukhari, son of PPP leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, in the caretaker provincial cabinet. They said that the local leaders, who have rendered sacrifices for the party, have been ignored,” sources privy to the meeting told this scribe.
Besides others, the meeting was attended by PPP provincial senior vice president Syed Ayub shah, general secretary Amjad Afridi, women wing provincial president Senator Rubina Khalid, provincial deputy information secretary Saleem Khan, Peshawar division president Liaquat Shabab, Malik Saeed Khan, Malik Tehmash Khan, Gohar Inqilabi, Shoaib Alam, Farzand Ali Khan, Khwaja Yawar Naseer and Dr Zulfiqar.
The presidents and senior office-bearers of different divisions, districts and sub-wings also participated in the meeting.
However, a statement issued here said that PPP provincial president assured the participants that all issues would be taken up with the top leadership of the party to avoid any complication in future. The meeting also discussed issues relating to reorganisation of the party and directed the relevant office-bearers to complete the process within one month.
Decides to take up the issue with top leadership of party
PPP provincial president asked the participants to take effective measures for mobilisation of the inactive workers so that the process of reorganisation could be completed as early as possible.
He said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on one hand was trying to get its detained people released through bails and on the other was announcing ‘court arrest movement’. He said that it was a glaring example of contradiction in words and deeds of PTI.
He said that PTI chief Imran Khan put his opponents in jail when he was prime minister by lodging fake cases against them. He said that PTI’s complaints about inflation were baseless as the same party finalised agreement with International Monetary Fund.
“Imran Khan should go back to the cricket field and start commentary where he will get full opportunity to speak. He does not know how difficult it is to stay in jail,” Amjad Afridi said.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that Imran Khan’s aim was to create chaos in the country. She stressed the need for probe into the billion tree tsunami and Malam Jabba land allotment scams to award punishment to the people facing corruption charges.
The lawmaker also demanded of National Accountability Bureau and other institutions to investigate the Bus Rapid Transit scandal and the indiscriminate use of helicopter during the PTI government.
