Bird home to be set up in F-9 Park

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday decided to establish a bird home in F-9 Park.

Presiding over a meeting of the authority’s environment wing, CDA Chairman retired Capt Noorul Amin Mengal issued directions to set up the structure in the park.

He also issued directions, stating that new parks should be established in I-11 sector while the meeting also decided that sports academies would be set up in the city’s major parks.

The chairman passed directives for taking steps to make the upcoming tree plantation campaign in Islamabad successful.

It is relevant to note here that in the past, people of Islamabad could see birds in the zoo but that has been closed for good.

However, now, children have no such facilities except one in Lake View Park, where a private contractor has set up a bird aviary. He charges visitors for visiting the site.

During the meeting, the chairman said there should be a facility similar to this in F-9 Park.

He directed the environment wing to go for setting up a new aviary and there should be no entry fee for children less than 10 years of age.

The chairman said that students should also be given a special discount.

Another CDA official said that the chairman had issued directions for completion of this project within six months.
